Our story
A studio of eleven, working a craft most people overlook.

Plate I · The Studio Cabinet
Marlow & Vine began with a single client, a cedar bucket, and the conviction that a home well cared for can change a week.
Eleanor Marlow founded the studio in 2014 after a decade as a property steward for vintage homes in the Pacific Northwest. She had grown weary of cleaning services that treated houses like checklists — and homeowners like invoices.
Today our team of eleven cares for more than 600 homes across Portland, with a quiet waitlist and a stubborn refusal to grow faster than we can train. Every member begins with a six-week apprenticeship in our standards, products, and the small grace notes that distinguish the work.
We are detail-obsessed without being precious. We are warm without being familiar. We are, above all, in this for the long view — the relationships, the homes, the slow accumulation of trust that turns a service into a craft.
How we keep it small
I
Slowly
We hire two to three people a year. Each one trained personally by Eleanor or Sam, our operations lead.
II
Locally
We work only within a 22-minute radius of our Hawthorne studio. Smaller geography, deeper service.
III
Quietly
We don't advertise. Every new client comes by referral, which keeps the bar where it should be.
